A word from Gary:

The volunteer coordinator from one of our local hospice organizations shared these valuable pieces with us.

We hope they have meaning for you.

 I Am Free

(Author unknown)
06/13/01

Don't grieve for me, for I'm now free.

I am following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call.
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day to laugh,
to love, to work or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I have found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,

then fill it now with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
all these things I too shall miss.
Be not burdened with sorrow;

A quiet simple piece from our field as evening arrives.

I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I've savored much -
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,

but don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me.
God wanted me now.  He set me free.

A touch of gentle beauty from our woods

I'd like the memory of me
    to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.

I'd like to leave an echo
    whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
    and bright and sunny days.

I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
    to dry before the sun
Of happy memories that I leave
    When life is done.
