A few words from Anne:

As we raced through the holidays with our busy Collecting Consort performance schedule this past year, we found a friend who reminded us of what our work was all about.

Her name is Char Follis, and her positive response to our work reminded us of the importance of playing more than just notes with our music.

Char Follis

Char is also involved in the creative arts.  Her media is photography.

Not only were we drawn to her as a person, but to her work as well.  A friendship was born, and we asked if we could use some of her work in The Caregiver Companion.

As a result, you will find some of Char's work as illustrations for Gary's article, "What, Me Depressed?"  You will also see more of her work adding meaning to future articles.

You can support Char's work by purchasing her photos in the form of note cards (photos mounted on nice linen note paper with quality matching envelopes).  They are $3.00 each or 4 for $10.00.

She also has enlargements of her photos up to the size of 16" x 20".  We have included some of her thoughts along with  illustrations of her creative art.

To describe my work, I always use the word, "gift", which I believe it is.  I have had no formal training in photography but believe I have been given an "eye" for what God has already painted.  You just need to look around to see His handiwork.

A New Baby

My subject matter is mainly Michigan, including lighthouses, barns, and Mackinac Island.  I also have some quaint fishing villages from the Eastern Seaboard.

I love to work with my botanicals and critters.

I also look for experiences that seem to be "saying" something to others and me.  This photo inspired the following poem.

Break Through

  Hope Lives

Beneath the cold hard icy ground
Where bulbs are frozen closed --
HOPE LIVES!.

In spite of barren leafless limbs
Where buds are dormant still --
HOPE LIVES!.

Though dreams may dim
And visions fade --
HOPE LIVES!.

When wounds are deep
And scars are fresh --
HOPE LIVES!.

When memories sting
And tears yet flow --
HOPE LIVES!.

When no answers to our "whys" are found
And God has not responded yet --
HOPE LIVES!.

As the clock continues its forward march
With no relief in sight --
HOPE LIVES!.

He spoke to me so gently,
As though it was a kiss
And simply uttered softly,
"Will you turn to me in this?"

How could I refuse my Master,
The one who gives and gives
For he's shown me in so many ways
That in Him, -- HOPE LIVES!.

Thanks Char, for sharing your gifts with us.
